Naturespace's user interface is extremely VoiceOver-friendly which is a huge plus if you are blind like me. The sound quality is unparalleled, especially when using headphones, and the tracks' titles and descriptions are very creative.

VoiceOver-Unterstützung ist umfassend. Jedes interaktive Element in der App, jeder Button, jeder Titel, jedes Listenelement, hat eine explizite, von Menschen geschriebene VoiceOver-Beschriftung. Tracktitel, Dauer und Downloadstatus werden zusammen als eine zusammenhängende Beschreibung ausgegeben, statt in fragmentierten Einzelteilen, weil das Team 2014 einen eigenen View-Container entwickelt hat, um die Standarddarstellung gruppierter Inhalte in iOS für blinde Nutzer zu verbessern.

VoiceOver-Beschriftungen sind in alle 10 unterstützten Sprachen übersetzt. Blinde Nutzer in den USA, im Vereinigten Königreich, in Kanada, Australien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Spanien, Italien, Japan, Korea, Brasilien, auf dem chinesischen Festland und in Taiwan hören die App in ihrer eigenen Sprache. Das geht über das hinaus, was die meisten Consumer-Apps leisten, bei denen Accessibility-Labels nur auf Englisch bereitgestellt werden.

Die App enthält keine Animation. Nichts blendet ein, gleitet, springt oder wechselt. Das ist Absicht. Dadurch ist Naturespace von Grund auf kompatibel mit Nutzern, die „Reduce Motion“ benötigen, mit vestibulären Einschränkungen oder Migräneauslösern sowie mit Nutzern, die Bewegung in Interfaces als kognitiv störend empfinden. Es gibt nichts zu reduzieren, weil sich nichts bewegt.

Track-Beschreibungen werden als atmosphärische Texte vorgelesen. Jeder Titel im Katalog hat eine literarische, sensorische Beschreibung, von Hand geschrieben und in 10 Sprachen übersetzt. Wenn VoiceOver diese Texte vorliest, hört ein blinder Nutzer nicht nur die Aufnahme, sondern auch den Ort in Sprache beschrieben. Wie ein Rezensent schrieb: die App "hilft mir, mir die Landschaft vorzustellen." Die Beschreibungen wurden für sehende Leser geschrieben, funktionieren aber, vielleicht sogar besser, für Hörer ohne visuelle Vorannahmen.

I am light perception blind and was born that way so I have never seen nature. This app is absolutely amazing. I have looked for weeks trying to find an app that would help me sleep but I didn't find one until I found Naturespace. I can feel like I'm there.

Being blind, I focus on the sounds of nature since I cannot focus on its visual aspects. All I have to do is plug in the headphones and I am alone in the woods sitting on a log in dappled shade.

The recordings are of fabulous quality. It is like being right there where the recording was made. The sound is so clear and realistic that the listener can tell whether trees are close and densely growing or whether the area is open. Now that all functions of the app work with VoiceOver, I can now enjoy all aspects of the app.
