Naturespace, An App Like No Other

Naturespace's user interface is extremely VoiceOver-friendly which is a huge plus if you are blind like me. The sound quality is unparalleled, especially when using headphones, and the tracks' titles and descriptions are very creative.

Qué se hizo

El soporte de VoiceOver es completo. Cada elemento interactivo de la app, cada botón, cada pista, cada elemento de lista, tiene una etiqueta de VoiceOver explícita, escrita por personas. Los títulos de las pistas, duraciones y estado de descarga se anuncian juntos como una única descripción coherente en lugar de fragmentos, porque el equipo creó un contenedor de vista personalizado en 2014 para corregir cómo iOS presenta el contenido agrupado a usuarios ciegos por defecto.

Las etiquetas de VoiceOver están traducidas a los 10 idiomas compatibles. La app no contiene animaciones. Nada se desvanece, se desliza, rebota o transiciona. Es intencional. Las descripciones de las pistas se leen en voz alta como prosa evocadora. Cada pista del catálogo tiene una descripción literaria y sensorial, escrita a mano y traducida a 10 idiomas. Cuando VoiceOver lee estas descripciones, un usuario ciego no solo escucha la grabación, también escucha el lugar descrito con palabras. Como dijo un reseñador, la app "me ayuda a imaginar el paisaje". Las descripciones se escribieron para lectores videntes, pero funcionan, quizá mejor, para quienes llegan sin ideas previas.

I am light perception blind and was born that way so I have never seen nature. This app is absolutely amazing. I have looked for weeks trying to find an app that would help me sleep but I didn't find one until I found Naturespace. I can feel like I'm there.

Being blind, I focus on the sounds of nature since I cannot focus on its visual aspects. All I have to do is plug in the headphones and I am alone in the woods sitting on a log in dappled shade.

The recordings are of fabulous quality. It is like being right there where the recording was made. The sound is so clear and realistic that the listener can tell whether trees are close and densely growing or whether the area is open. Now that all functions of the app work with VoiceOver, I can now enjoy all aspects of the app.
